Mark McHargue is a fourth-generation producer in Merrick County and has now taken over the role of President of the Nebraska Farm Bureau.
Newly elected and ready to serve the producers of Nebraska, Mark McHargue of Marquette has stepped into his role as president of the state’s largest farm and ranch organization -- the Nebraska Farm Bureau.
A fourth generation farmer in Merrick County, McHargue started chasing his passion for agriculture long before taking over the family operation.
“My career in agriculture kind of started (in) high school, dad built a little hog shed for me and we had a few hogs around,” he began. “But when it started full-time actually was after I got done with school. My wife and I moved to Aurora and we were in partnership with Marcellus Wall there for a couple of years, until I came back and started helping dad on the farm there in Central City.”
