Utilizing grain bins is a common rouine for farmers, but they also pose many hazards to health and safety. Dan Neena with the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety spoke on how farmers can be their safest around grain bins during a Husker Harvest Days online forum.
He began by explaining that according to OSHA standards, a grain bin is considered a confined space. Though a farm with 10 employees or less is exempted from OSHA rules, he has found that they are the best practices for entry into a bin.
