A topic many local producers are familiar with, calving (and when to call the vet), was the topic of choice for the Jan. 19 BeefWatch webinar, a new online seminar series on beef sponsored by the Nebraska Extension. 
Animal health teaching and Extension specialist Dr. Rebecca Funk was featured on behalf of the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center, to help explain the sticky situations in the world of calving. 
“I always start out with producers,” she began. “(And) there’s a few rules of engagement when we’re talking about dystocia or having problems. My number one rule is to use obstetrical lube. It’s there for a reason, it makes your job easier.”
