Having grown up around a family-owned cattle operation Lillian Dose is proud of her own ag-based heritage and said she is also pleased to be part of an FFA organization about to celebrate 50 years of ag education in Hampton.
Indeed the name Dose and agriculture go hand-in-hand in Hamilton County, motivating Lillian to be active in the organization, in fact stepping up to be the first of her siblings to serve as chapter president.
“We’re still in the process of narrowing down everything we are going to do to celebrate our 50th anniversary as a chapter, but it’s a huge deal and I’m just so honored to be a part of it,” said Dose, the daughter of Shane and Theresa Dose. “We’re hoping to make our banquet a big event, maybe inviting people who have participated in FFA to come back, so that would be really cool.”
As a junior at Hampton High School, Dose is wrapping up her year as president of the FFA chapter, where she said she gained both knowledge and confidence well beyond the field of agriculture.
“When people think of FFA they always focus on the agricultural part of it,” Dose said. “But being part of FFA as an officer you learn first-hand and understand that it’s more about being a leader, being respectful and responsible and just being yourself. There is a lot more to it, and it’s just been a great experience for me.”
