Richard Carl Mundt son of Carl H. and Irene E. (Heiden) Mundt was born on May 21, 1947 in York.  He attended grade school at Immanuel Lutheran School, and graduated with the class of ’65 at Polk High School.  After attending UNL for two years, he began farming near Polk. He was partner with Verland Widga in Widga and Mundt Auction Service. In 2004, Dick attended real estate school and was a licensed real estate agent.  Dick served his country and was honorably discharged October 29, 1973 after serving six years in the NE Army National Guard.
Dick was joined in marriage to Carla J. Myers on July 23, 1972 at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk, and celebrated their 49th anniversary this past Friday.
At the age of 40 with the power of Jesus, Dick defeated leukemia.  Five years later, with a clear report, he experienced heart disease.  Powering on with Jesus at his side, he continued farming and auctioneering until 2007, when he and Carla moved to Aurora. Dick continued to enjoy working farm and gun auctions with Cornwell Land and Home Brokers in Aurora.
His life was short, but made happy by his wonderful wife Carla, inseparable through 49 years of marriage.  He was proud of his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
Survivors include Dick’s wife, Carla, sons Charles (Tara) of Marquette, Edward (Melissa) of York, grandchildren Carl Richard, Marlie Grace, Parker Stanley, and Carl’s friend Regan Lech, sister Anita (George Wochner), York, and brother Tom (Nancy) Mundt, Bradshaw, mother-in-law, Fern (Bock) Myers, Stromsburg, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lynda (Lynn) Sundberg, Cairo, William Hokanson, Lincoln, and Marcia (Kenny) Carlstrom, Polk; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
