Body

Menno was born March 13, 1938 to Abe L. (Agnes Bartel) Classen and died in Great Bend, Kansas. He went to heaven November 21, 2020 and was greeted by his Saviour, his parents, sisters Martha (Henry) Baerg, Ann Classen, Esther (Ed) Ratzlaff and brother-in-law Roy Regier. It was hard to say goodbye to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was also hard to say goodbye to his sisters Alma Regier, Arlene (Junior) Stoesz, Leona (Harold) Buller, and his brother John.
Menno accepted his Saviour during revival meetings at the EMB Church in Meade, Kansas. Later he was baptized on May 30, 1954 and joined the Church. He graduated from Meade Bible Academy in 1955. On June 10, 1961, he married Susanna Friesen in Henderson. They had four children: Angela (Brian) Herman, Sharlene (Paul) Lawrence, Deanna (Roland) Broeder, and Leland (Dasha) Classen. He loved his children dearly.
He was a Ford Man. He worked for the Ford Dealership in Meade, Kansas for 20 years and for the Ford Dealership in Aurora, for 27 years.
While living in Meade, he was an active member of the EMB (Countryside) Church. He also enjoyed being an active member at the Pleasant View Bible Church after their move to Aurora. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Meade and a Charter Member and Chaplain of the Optimist Club in Aurora.
He had so much fun playing with his FOURTEEN grandchildren. They would go on bike rides, build fantastic Lego creations, and watch the Model Train go around the track on the Bartel Table in the basement of their house. He also spent many hours putting puzzles together. He was very excited as well when two great-grandchildren joined the family.
In 2018, he and Susanna moved to Great Bend, Kansas to be near their daughter Deanna and family. While there, he enjoyed looking out the big window and watching the birds, squirrels, and the occasional rabbit. He also liked singing old hymns and listening to Hymns on the iPhone. One of his favorite songs was “One Day at a Time Lord Jesus”. Now instead of thinking one day at a time, he is thinking “Eternity”.
A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at Charter Funerals in Great Bend on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020. The Public Graveside Service will be at the Countryside Bible Church Cemetery in Meade, Kansas at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020.  The family has requested that memorials may be directed to scholarships for kids to attend Solid Rock Bible Camp, a ministry of InFaith (please make checks payable to InFaith).  Online condolences may be left for the family and a complete obituary notice may be viewed at http://www.chartergreatbend.com.
