Lyndon Keyes

Lyndon Lowell Keyes of Richmond, IL passed away at his home after suffering a heart attack on January 26, 2021. He was born April 20, 1960 in York, to Lowell and R’Lou Keyes.
During his youth in Aurora, Lyndon, a Boy Scout, eventually became an Eagle Scout. Throughout his life he continued to live by the motto “always be prepared.” He graduated from Aurora High School in 1978, where he ran cross country and competed in the triple jump. As a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, he was awarded the “Mr. FBLA Nebraska” title.
After spending a year at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Lyndon transferred to North Park University in Chicago, earning a degree in Business Administration. There he met and fell in love with his best friend and future-wife, Lauryn. The two married in 1984 and lived in Chicago for the next 8 years.
In 1990 and 1992, Lyndon became father to daughter, Licia, and son, Laine. He was a true family man and loved being a dad. His joyful, positive attitude was so obvious that it had a name: “Dadittude,” which became a long-standing family phrase. In 2015 he became “Grampy” to his grandson, Simon.
Lyndon was a natural athlete. At the age of 50, he accomplished a lifelong goal of running a marathon. He completed the Chicago marathon four years running and inspired others, including his daughter, Licia, to run alongside him.
Lyndon cherished his relationship with Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, he thought deeply about his faith and had a passion for sharing it with others. For over 10 years Lyndon served as a youth leader at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake. His infectious enthusiasm, fun-loving spirit, and love for God’s Word made him well-suited to the task of connecting with and teaching middle school boys. He also served as an elder, where his ministry and contributions were greatly valued. He exemplified what it meant to be “servant-hearted.” He had a gift for treating everyone equally in conversation, always with genuine curiosity, interest, and respect.
Throughout his professional career, Lyndon was fully invested in whatever role he held. For 22 years, he enjoyed a career at ServiceMaster in Downers Grove, IL, where he eventually served as Vice President of ServiceMaster Acceptance Corp. Most recently he was Director of Finance at Drieske Moving and Storage in McHenry, IL. He worked alongside both Lauryn and Laine, which gave him great joy.
Lyndon’s life was well spent. He poured himself out for his family, his friends, his co-workers, and his church. He loved people and he loved life. He didn’t fear death or the future. Lyndon believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and is now experiencing His presence and glory in Heaven.
Lyndon is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lauryn; children, Licia (Dave) Radford, and Laine (Bethany) Keyes; grandson, Simon Radford; mother, R’Lou Keyes; sisters, Leanne (Charlie) Gustafson, and Sherri (Rick) Miller; brother, Lennis Keyes; parents-in-law, Dwight and Barbara Wernquist; and brother-in-law, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Wernquist.  
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Keyes.
Lyndon’s family held a memorial service at the Evangelical Free Church of Crystal Lake on February 2, 2021.
