Lanny Lee Ang, 77, struggled with the flares of M.S. all his adult life but December 22, 2020 lost his short fight with lung cancer at his home.  A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at the Polk Laclede Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Solt-Wagner Funeral Home.

Lanny Lee was born June 3, 1943 in Stromsburg, the son of Stanford and Dorothy (Wullbrandt) Ang.  He attended District #65 then merged into Polk Public, graduating in the class of 1962.  He was a member of the 1961 State Football Team and the 1961 and 1962 State Basketball Teams which were inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and into the High Plains Community School Hall of Fame in 2016.  Lanny was drafted into the US Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam as a helicopter machinist.  He was honorably discharged in 1969.
Lanny married Connie Lee Jones May 3, 1969 at Trinity Lutheran Church.  He lived in Polk his entire life.  Lanny drove the propane truck for Farmers CO-OP a few years and then farmed till MS forced him to retire in 1994.
Lanny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Legion Post #160 of Polk, VFW Post # 4832 of Clarks, and the Laclede Cemetery Board.  Lanny loved driving around Polk checking out the town, having coffee and talking to his friends.  He very much enjoyed watching his grandchildren and sitting in his chair with his lap dog, Zoey, doing his word puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; his mother, Dorothy Ang-Simpson of Stromsburg; son, Kevin Lee (Lori) Ang of Polk; daughter, Kari Lee (friend Shane Schank) Ang-Schwarz of Central City; five grandchildren, Travis, McKenzie, Shelby, and Sean Schwarz, and Joshua Ang; step-granddaughter, Renee` Horky; great-grandson, Aeson Schwarz; sister, Karen Alfred of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Alvertus Jones; sister and brother-in-laws, Donette and Charlie Shenk of Polk, Carita and Mark Albin of Ankeny, IA, Lesley and Randy Branting of Haven, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Stanford Ang; father-in-law, Max D. Jones; step-father-in-law, Ralph Simpson; and an infant great-grandson.
