Phillips board plans for park upgrade

The Village of Phillips is set to move forward with plans to upgrade the town’s George Jensen Memorial Park on West Street. At the October meeting of the village board last Tuesday, the trustees learned that two bids had been received to install a sprinkler system for irrigation in the park.

A group of nearly 40 people from many church denominations joined the National Life Chain Sunday, holding anti-abortion signs in a peaceful “Stand for Life” along Highway 34 in Aurora. This was reported to be the 20th anniversary of the event in Aurora.

Two trustees seek re-election to Hampton Village Board

Two current members of the Hampton Village Board of Trustees are seeking re-election in hopes of serving four more years on the body. Incumbents Dylan Bamesberger and Jared Rojewski are both running unopposed to retain their seats on the village board.

Three incumbents running for Hordville Village Board

Three current members of the Hordville village board of trustees are seeking to be re-elected to the board and are unchallenged. The candidates are current board chairman Rod Blase and trustees Benjamin Blase and Robert Anderson. All are running to serve another four-year term on the board.

Finn celebrates 1st birthday in style

Although Finn just turned one year old last month, he already knows his way around Memorial Community Care and has even learned which of the residents has the best treats. He even did his part to raise money for Aurora Adopt a Pet as part of his first birthday celebration last month.

Marching Huskies escape into Harvest of Harmony

The Aurora Marching Huskies made a break for success at the 82nd annual Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island on Saturday.

Looking back on 50 years of history at Aurora Mall

The Clarke family passed a major milestone this week, celebrating 50 years of owning and running a “one-stop shop” grocery store and crediting the community for much of their continued success.
Equipment will soon be installed on this portion of the KAAPA ethanol plant west of Aurora to capture carbon dioxide, which is usually vented into the atmosphere. The CO2 will be compressed and sent by pipeline several miles south to connect with the new Trailblazer CO2 pipeline project being undertaken by Tallgrass.

A new carbon capture facility at the Aurora ethanol plant has created the largest single surge in the city’s building permit history since construction of the ethanol plant itself began back in 2007.

The field of candidates running for Aurora City Council in the pending  Nov. 5 General Election grew last week with two more local residents throwing their hats in the ring as write-in candidates.Jannelle Seim filed as a candidate in Ward 1 and will face off against incumbent Wayne Roblee.
