Most Nebraska golfers are used to playing with a breeze, but Friday’s conditions for the Seward Invite were a bit extreme.  Winds gusted, blowing hats off heads with temperatures struggling to get above 50.

Members of the Poco Creek Golf Course elected new board members during last week’s annual meeting, where they also reviewed course revenues, expenses and activities, including a progress report on construction of a new clubhouse.

Sure, the weather was picture perfect for awhile and lightning-plagued for others.  It wasn’t the best rounds of golf the Lady Husky golf team has turned in during the 2021 season.

Lady Huskies take 2nd at Poco Creek

The Lady Huskies continue to add confidence and experience to their collective golf bags, earning three individual medals and a runner-up team finish in Saturday’s home invitational.
The statue “Waiting for the Bus” and flag pole were given in memory of Cletus Kothe by his family. Kothe drove bus for the Giltner school for 52 years and passed away in 2020.

Learning the game

The Aurora golf coaching staff held a youth golf clinic last week at Poco Creek to get youngsters introduced and hopefully spurn a love for the game at the same time. Campers learned the basics of the game, including putting, chipping and several drills to practice with.

Going into Monday’s B-3 District meet at York Country Club, Aurora’s Tate Nachtigal wasn’t on the radar for most people to keep an eye on.  He certainly is now.  Nachtigal, who entered the district meet as Aurora’s No.

Huskies finish 3rd at conference meet

Elks Country Club in Columbus provided a challenge for Friday’s Central Conference meet.  The rough was a challenge and putting was at a premium as Aurora ended the day with two medalists and a third place team effort.
