Lady Huskies come up short against area foes

Aurora’s first home game of the season didn’t quite go to plan. The Lady Huskies struggled to stay consistent on offense and didn’t have enough in the tank to chase down Grand Island Northwest in a 50-31 loss Saturday.

Hawks continue search for elusive first win of season

Hampton continues its search for the first win of the year after falling to taller teams from Osceola and Heartland over the weekend. Coach Kyle Ediger said he’s seen bursts of solid play from his young team and is pleased with the attitude on game night as well as during practice.

Hampton senior Rorie Loveland drives the lane, much like she did all night Friday against Osceola, when she scored a season-high 25 points to help lead her team to victory.

Hampton girls pushed the pace from the opening tip Friday in a home tilt against Osceola, scoring a season-high 61 points to chalk up the first win of the year.

Giltner’s Jacob Smith calls for the ball over HPC’s Lane Urkoski. Smith led the team with 10 points and seven boards, five of which on the offensive glass.

Giltner’s offense scored more points in the opening half against High Plains than it did the entire game the night before at Harvard. Nevertheless, the Hornets began the season 2-0 with a pair of road victories.
