Trio of Huskies make finals

Tia Teigre continues to make history for the Aurora wrestling team.

The Aurora foreign exchange student from Norway is the Lady Huskies' first-ever finalist at the NSAA girls state wrestling championships.

Joining Teigre in the finals are her boy teammates Mack Owens and Aaron Jividen, making a total of three for Aurora.

Teigre defeated Melissa De La Torr of South Sioux City with a pinfall at the 3:27 mark to make the finals. Teigre will take on Claire Paasch for the gold medal.

Mack Owens worked a bit longer than that, grinding out a 5-1 decision over Waverly's Wyatt Fanning, making a return trip to the finals. It will be a familiar opponent for Owens, taking on Bennington's Luke MacDonald. MacDonald defeated Owens a year ago in the state finals.

Aaron Jividen also took care of business, defeating York's Kadence Velde via a 5-0 decision. Jividen, with an undefeated record, will take on Waverly's Trevor Brown in the finals.

The championship matches begin at 3 p.m. Saturday.
