Lady Huskies earn five golds at home tourney

It was a dominating effort from Aurora’s girls at home Thursday.
The Lady Huskies earned five individual golds on its way to a second place effort at the Aurora Invite, including nine medalists overall.
Aubrie Beed, Caly Settles, Londyn Teahon, Makaylah McCartney and Briana Onnen all earned gold medals for their efforts at home Thursday.
Beed continued her red-hot start to the season with gold at 100, winning all three of her matches via pinfall, two of those coming inside the opening minute.
Settles remained unbeaten through the Aurora meet with three more wins, all coming by fall. 
Teahon won all three of her matches by fall while McCartney needed to win four to take gold. Onnen added three victories to take the top of the podium.
Aurora had two other finalists, Peyton Griffin and Violet Carstensen, who ended the day with runner-up efforts. 
Sherly Gonzalez added a third place finish while Olivia Perez ended with a fourth for the Huskies. 
Just a couple days later, Aurora was back on the mats in Wood River Saturday, battling to a third place team effort in a loaded event with over 22 teams.
Northwest took top honors with 157.5 points, just one point better than Conestoga in second with Aurora at third with 141. 
Settles was Aurora’s lone champion on the day, winning all three of her matchups via pinfall. Two of those were won inside the opening minute. 
Beed, Griffin and Mia Leininger were all finalists for Aurora, finishing the day second while Gonzalez added a third and Perez a fourth. 
Aurora’s final action before the holiday break comes Thursday at home in a dual against Northwest while also competing Saturday at Pierce.
