Kevin Asher has accepted the boys basketball head coaching position at Aurora High School, the school announced Thursday.

Asher coached at Wood River during the 2020-21 season and has also spent time at Elm Creek, Norfolk Catholic, Millard West, Pender and Hastings St. Cecilia.

"We are very excited to add Mr. Asher to the Aurora Public Schools staff and look forward to the continued success of the Aurora boys basketball program," a press release from the school stated.

Aurora's coaching transition began in December when Tom Leininger and Aurora ended a seven-year tenure as head basketball coach. Assistant coach Rick Bell finished the season as coach of the Huskies.

The Huskies went 16-10 this season, ending its year in the B-6 district final to Beatrice, who eventually won the Class B state title.
