Steven Dale Patton, the son of Dale and Evelyn (Dubas) Patton, was born in Ralston, on August 28, 1959 and passed away in Aurora, on April 19, 2025 at the age of 65.
The fourth of four children, he attended Doniphan and Aurora schools. Steve graduated from Aurora High School in 1978 and made his way to the Fort Collins and Greeley, Colorado area shortly afterward. Steve was first united in marriage to Diana Pittman in Colorado and from this union, two sons were born: Chris Patton and Andrew Patton.
Steve was united in marriage to Shirley Moore on September 16, 1994. They continued to raise Steve’s boys into the two fine men that they are today. As a family, they enjoyed many camping trips and many wonderful memories were made. Steve, as many who knew him would say, was always down for a good time, quick with a joke, and maybe even some shenanigans along the way. Steve also had a great love of music and always had music playing any chance he could. Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, and Eric Clapton were some of his favorites and they quickly became his family’s favorites as well. Steve worked for Bonnavilla Homes, Kodak, Iams, the Aurora Water Department, and finished out his career as the Aurora Cemetery’s Sexton for 17 years, retiring in 2021. He truly loved being the Sexton out there and took an immense amount of pride doing so.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dave Patton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Chris (Alex) Patton and Andrew (Diana) Patton, all of Aurora; his sister Glenda (Terry) Sapp of Windsor, Colorado; step-mother Reve Patton of Aurora, and special friend and caretaker, Shirley Moore Cass of Aurora.
