Shawna Michalski-Wengler, age 46, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at her home.
Shawna’s wishes were to be cremated.  The family will hold a celebration of life at a future date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Shawna Lanea Michalski-Wengler, the daughter of Betty J. (Schroeder) Michalski was born in Grand Island, on June 15, 1974, and passed away in Aurora, on February 2, 2021 at the age of 46.
Shawna grew up in Chapman and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School.  She attended college for a short time before moving back to Aurora, where she met Frank Wengler.  They have spent the last 27 years together.  They were married on May 10, 2016.
Shawna had worked cleaning rooms for Ken’s Motel, at the Hamilton Manor in the housekeeping department and cleaning, painting and renovating properties for Wortman Enterprises.
Shawna enjoyed doing many different things.  She enjoyed her animals, drawing, camping, fishing, hunting, riding horses, motorcycle riding, travelling to a different state each year and spending time with family.  Shawna was always quick to give and slow to take.
She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank of Aurora; two daughters, Michaela (Tyler) Mayes and Riley Wengler; grandson, Wyatt Mayes; four step-children, David, John, Kevin and Tammy; brother, Michael Michalski; sister, Wanda Michalski and many other family members and friends.
