Rudy was born on June 10, 1948 in Columbus, to Ralph and Mary (Salak) Alloway. He grew up traveling the U.S. while his dad was employed by Missouri Valley Construction. The family settled in Phillips in 1957. Rudy was the last graduating class from Phillips in 1966 and then he attended Kearney State College.
On August 29, 1970 he was united in marriage to Carol Spickelmier in Grand Island. To this union three sons were born, Benjamin, Mitchell and Nathan.
Rudy was a mechanic for Schuppan’s for 25 years. He then had a career with Grand Island Public Schools as a mechanic that spanned 22 years. He was a member of the Phillips Global United Methodist Church. Rudy worked and relaxed on the family farm in Hayes County with his brother in-law, Russ Spickelmier. He could be found many times in his garage or helping his sons with projects around their homes or just answering a call to help with something that broke. His greatest joy was getting to watch his sons and grandchildren grow up. Rudy was always there to support his family. Rudy and Carol made many cherished memories over the 12 years that they participated in the Nebraska Passport Program.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Carol Alloway of Lincoln; sons, Mitchell (Jennifer) Alloway of Omaha and Nathan (Rachel) Alloway of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kathryn, Jonathan, Ryan, Samantha and Drew Alloway; brothers in-law, Russell, Merle and Dennis Spickelmier and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his infant son, Benjamin Alloway; infant twin brother, Randolph Alloway; infant sister, Sylvia Alloway; sister, Lois Shriner; sisters in-law, Norma Rogers, Marilyn, Joyce and Debbie L. Spickelmier and brother in-law, Richard Shriner.
