Richard "Dick" Kuehner
Richard “Dick” L. Kuehner, age 89, of rural Phillips, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at the Phillips Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Phillips Cemetery or the Doniphan Fire Dept. Dick was born November 23, 1933 in rural Phillips to William Edward and Frieda Matilda (Stoppkotte) Kuehner. He grew up in rural Phillips and attended Dearing School District 32 through the 8th grade. He graduated from Phillips High School in 1951.
In 1952, Dick voluntarily enlisted in the United Stated Army Reserves. In 1956, he was transferred to active duty and was stationed in Hanau, Germany. In 1958, he was honorably discharged at Ft. Hamilton in Brooklyn, NY and then continued serving in the reserves. After 10 years of service, he returned to farming until retirement.
Dick was united in marriage to Nancy Craft on March 23, 1963.
Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, time with his family and helping with harvest on the family farm. He and Nancy traveled to many countries, took several cruises and spent 16 summers in Alaska salmon and halibut fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy Kuehner of Phillips; sister in-law, Carolyn Kuehner of Doniphan; brother in-law, Eugene (Pauline) Craft of Hastings; niece, Karla (Jack) Obermeier of Grand Island and their son, Tanner of Elkhorn; niece, Kenda Kuehner of Kearney; niece, Kaila (Clint) Mailahn of Denton; nephew, William (Jennie) Kuehner and their children, Elena and Garrett of Aurora; nephew, Doug Craft of Tallahassee, FL; niece, Jan (Kevin) Armes of Hastings; niece, Jill (Kurt) Gibbs of Rosedale; several great and great-great nieces and nephews and caregiver, Cheri Appelhans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William V. Kuehner.
