Phillip Hansen

Body

Phillip Edward Hansen, age 64, passed away at his home in Rising City, on July 21, 2025.
Phillip was born on December 9, 1960, in Aurora, to Calvin and RoseMary Hansen. He was raised on the family farm north of Hampton.
He was baptized at the (Danish) Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hampton and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampton. A 1979 graduate of Hampton High School, Phillip had a curious and creative spirit that led him on many unique paths — including a memorable trip to Sweden to see his favorite music group, ABBA.
On December 18, 1982, Phillip married Beverly Jean “Jeannie” Pinneo, and the couple made their home in York. They welcomed their daughter, Amanda RoseMary, on April 23, 1991. Phillip was a devoted husband and father, and later, a loving grandfather to Alayna Hansen of York, who survives him.
Throughout his life, Phillip worked in food service and caregiving, beginning in high school with restaurant jobs and later serving the community through roles at Mosaic and York General Hearthstone until his retirement. He brought compassion and warmth to his work, particularly in his care for others.
Phillip had many passions — from raising tropical fish for local pet stores to cooking, gardening, collecting antiques, and nurturing houseplants. He enjoyed scouring garage sales and auctions for treasures and had a knack for spotting valuable designer jeans, which he sold around the world on eBay. With Jeannie, he found joy in helping elderly neighbors and hosting them during the holidays, reflecting their shared generosity and kindness.
Phillip is survived by his granddaughter Alayna Hansen of York; his siblings Nancy Hansen of Omaha, Craig (Ann) Hansen of Lincoln, Kenneth (Marsha) Hansen of rural Hampton, and Dwight (Deb) Hansen of York; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeannie, daughter Amanda, his parents Calvin and RoseMary Hansen, and his nephew Adam Hansen.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at United Cemetery in rural Hampton.  Phillip was cremated so there will be no public viewing or visitation.
