Surrounded by his wife and children, Luke Elmer Jacobsen passed away on October 17, 2023 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, ending his battle with pancreatic cancer.  
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 21 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kronborg, 2174 North T Rd., Marquette.   Rev. Ricardo Riqueza will officiate.   Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church.   The service will be livestreamed on the St. John’s Lutheran Church Facebook page.   Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.   Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com
Luke was born in Central City, on July 22, 1956. He was the second of four boys born to Elmer and Joy (Rasumssen) Jacobsen.  Luke was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran church in Kronborg.  He attended school at Marquette where he enjoyed tormenting Lori in grade school. He graduated high school in 1974. Luke attended the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis and completed an associates degree in diesel mechanics. 
Luke and Lori (Friesen) were married at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson on November 22, 1975. Luke and Lori began farming in 1978 and raised four children together.  Luke served on many different boards including Upper Big Blue Natural Resource District, Aurora CO-OP, Nebraska Alfalfa Marketing Association (named Producer of the Year in 2005), Nebraska Food CO-OP, Nebraska Sustainable Ag Society, and St John’s Church Council among others. As a member of LEAD group XXI, Luke traveled to Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile. His experience there sparked his interest in grass fed beef, which later led to his business Range West Beef. Luke was proud to be a fifth generation farmer and was passionate about caring for the land. He was an advocate for regenerative farming and converted his operation to include organic farming. Luke was always ready to share his experience and expertise. He especially loved the farmers markets and the people he met there.
Left to cherish his memory: wife Lori, sons Aaron (Carli), Rook, Jonas, Amelia; Ryan (Abby), Julian, Reese, Halle; Adam (Liz) Luke, Leah, Thomas, Emma; daughter Marcy (Oscar Fuentes), Tiago, Matias, Elena; brothers Jeff, Noel (Joni), Mark (Diana); father-in-law Myron (Arlyce) Friesen; brothers-in-law Matt (Dellene) Friesen, Cal (Brenda) Friesen, Jim (Jeanette) Friesen; sister-in-law Gayle (Rick Schwenk); 21 nieces and nephews and many other extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Beverly Friesen, and sister-in-law Coral Lea Jacobsen.
