Harris Ulmer
Harris Dean Ulmer, 93, of North Platte, passed away on May 8, 2021, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. He was born in Grafton, to Herman “Harry” Henry Ulmer and Martha Barbara (Nicolaus) Ulmer on Dec. 26, 1927.
Harris graduated from Grafton High School. He was self-employed as an electrician in Aurora, and was united in marriage to Elaine Elizabeth Smith on June 17, 1949. To this union four children were born; Cliff, Cindy, Bill and Pam. His wife, Elaine passed away on June 13, 1969.
Harris began working for the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. He was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” E. Barrett in North Platte, on Dec. 31, 1977. Millie passed away on Nov. 4, 2006.
Harris was a member of the Masons and Shriners fraternal organizations. He enjoyed music, dancing, woodworking, and Nebraska football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Maurice Lyle Ulmer; sister, Darlene Marie Vauck; both wives, Elaine and Millie; a stepson, Robert Jones; two step-grandsons, Todd Meseraull and Josh Jones; and a step-granddaughter, Sheila Jones.
Harris is survived by his children, Cliff (Leona Smith) Ulmer, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cindy (Ken) Nelson, of Richmond, Kentucky, Bill (Quilla) Ulmer of Aurora, and Pam (John Petersen) Ulmer of Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Holzbach, Tamara (Aric) Brophy, Blaine Ulmer, Ingrid (Charles Glas) Ulmer, and Aaron Ulmer; seven great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Steve (Kathy Lawlor) Jones of Denver, Colorado and Becky Meseraull of North Platte; step-grandchildren, Robin Meseraull, Chandra Jones and Tammie Jones.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021, at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, North Platte, with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.
