Glenn Rauert
Glenn E. Rauert, age 79, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Bryan/LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 11 at Westside Covenant Church. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery prior to the service at 10 a.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Westside Covenant Church. Memorials may be made to Westside Covenant Church. The service will be Livestreamed on the Higby-McQuiston Mortuary Facebook Page. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Glenn E. Rauert, the son of Fred and Frances (Brown) Rauert, was born in Grand Island, on April 16, 1945 and passed away in Lincoln, on February 8, 2025, at the age of 79.
Glenn was raised in northwest Grand Island, where he attended country school. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1963. Glenn attended Kearney State College. Glenn was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1969 and returned to the family farm.
Glenn was united in marriage to Margo Ann Brandt on November 8, 1969 at Grand Island. They had a son, Kent. Glenn started working at Heritage Bank on December 1, 1980 and was there for 32 years. Margo passed away on July 28, 2003.
Glenn was married to Suzanne (Start) Lee on December 31, 2004.
Glenn was a member of Westside Covenant Church, where he served as the financial secretary. He was a charter member of the Aurora Optimist, member of American Legion, one of the directors of the Hamilton Community Foundation and Hamilton/York County Cattle Feeders, where he received the Cattleman of the Year Award. Glenn loved feeding livestock and working with cattle, woodworking, spending winters in Florida and attending grandchildren’s activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Margo A. Rauert; sister, Janice Rauert and brother-in-law, Roger Luthy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Suzanne of Aurora; three children, Kent (Kara) Rauert of York, Casey (Jessica) Lee of Ashland and Darcie (Adrian) Burde of Gainesville, FL; 7 grandchildren, Alexandra (Joshua) Crawford of Lincoln, Ashton, Anna and Avery Rauert of York; Alyssa and Brycen Lee of Ashland and Isabella Burde of Gainesville, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Bernice Luthy of Aurora and other family members and friends.
