Elvera Willcock
Elvera Willcock, age 90, of Stockham, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26 at Westside Covenant Church in Aurora. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be at the Stockham Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Covenant Church. Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date. Elvera Leona Willcock, the daughter of Jens C. and Johanna Viola (Lagoni) Christensen, was born at Marquette, on December 24, 1934, and passed away at Aurora, on June 23, 2025 at the age of 90.
Her family lived on a farm near Marquette. Elvera’s mother passed away when she was a baby and the family moved into Marquette. Elvera graduated from Marquette High School and Grand Island Business College. She worked at Home Loan & Finance in Grand Island.
On January 29, 1956, she was united in marriage to Dwight Willcock at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. They had two children: Kit and Tammy. They moved to rural Stockham, where they lived for the next 69 years.
Elvera loved to roller skate before their marriage. Elvera and Dwight loved to go square dancing. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elvera was always known for sending cards and letters to everyone she knew.
Her faith and her love for the Lord were a large part of her life. Elvera was raised in the Lutheran Church at Kronborg, then when married attended the Presbyterian Church in Stockham, later the Methodist Church in Aurora and the last few years has been a member of Westside Covenant. Elvera mentored and taught at the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ethel Johansen, Nels Christensen and Alice Higby; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Bessie Willcock; sisters-in-law, Joyce Kliewer and June Willcock.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Dwight of Stockham; son, Kit (Cherie) Willcock of Stockham; daughter, Tammy (Dave) Detlefsen of New Hope, PA; grandsons, Kris Willcock of Stockham, Eric Willcock of Omaha, Thomas Detlefsen of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughter, Andrea Carman of Doyles town, PA; step-granddaughters, Ashley Rasmussen of Stromsburg, Haley Roberts of Central City; great-grandchildren, Kadyn and Kope Willcock and many other relatives, many nieces and nephews and friends.
