Funeral service for Donald “Don” Galusha, 91, of Central City, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Rev. Terry Buol will be officiating the service. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lynch. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17 prior to the service. Military rites will be conducted in the funeral home parking lot after the funeral service by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Norfolk Veterans Home. Don passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Don was born on May 31, 1934 in Central City, to Theodore “Truman” and Cecile (Martin) Galusha. He grew up in Central City attended grade school and Central City High School to the 11th grade. Don enlisted into the United States Marines after 11th grade and would later obtain his GED in the military. While in high school, Don played football and ran track. Don served in the United States Marines from 1952-1955 and then the United States Navy, serving from 1955 to 1973. He served his country during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. While in the service he was an airplane mechanic serving on P-3 Orion Sub Hunters as well as munitions and ordnance on helicopters and airplanes during the wars.
Don married Florence Merrill and to this union they had 4 children, Don “Steve”, Tonnya, Guy, and Julie. They later divorced. He later married Carolyn Classen on July 18, 1981 in Central City and to this union they had one son, Rex. After Don’s honorable discharge he worked at State Steel in Grand Island. After retiring from State Steel he was custodian at the middle school in Central City and kept busy doing odd jobs and helping people in town. Don enjoyed telling stories, watching westerns and sports on tv, hunting, fishing, tinkering with boats and motorcycles, yard work, feeding his squirrels, and “bs” with family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife Carolyn Galusha, children Don “Steve” Galusha, Guy (Adora) Galusha, Julie Rising, Rex (Tiffany) Galusha, step-children Rose (Ron) King, Cory (Cindy) Brosman, Dan Brosman, Heather (Louie) Lantz, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tonnya Cecile, parents Theodore “Truman” and Cecile Galusha, and 8 siblings Theodore “Truman” Jr., Marietta, Wayne, Jean, Betty, Phyllis, Evelyn, and Gertrude.
