Bill Gage, age 81, of Aurora passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at V.A. Medical Center in Grand Island.
Bill’s wishes were to be cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 18 at the Faith Community Church. Pastor Bob Gannon will officiate.  The family will hold a private inurnment service at the Aurora Cemetery at a later date.  Current CDC guidelines will be followed.  Face masks are required.  Memorials may be made out to the family to designate at a later date.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. William G. Gage, the son of Leslie H. and Carmen L. (Roundy) Gage, was born at Woodbine, Iowa on Sept. 1, 1939 and passed away in Grand Island, on Feb. 11, 2021, at the age of 81.
Bill graduated in 1957 from Woodbine High School in Iowa and served in the U.S. Army Security Agency at Ft. Devins, MA, Turkey and Two Rock Ranch, CA from August 12, 1958 to July 8, 1960.
Bill moved to Aurora in 1965 starting his law enforcement career with the Aurora Police Dept. in 1966.  He was appointed Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy in 1967, was appointed Polk County Sheriff in 1977 and then appointed Chief of Police in Aurora in 1978, serving as Chief until 1998.  Bill was elected President of the Police Officers Association and served his position well.
Bill was married to Patricia Bean on June 1, 1984.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deanna Ulmer and step-son, Joel Bean.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat of Aurora; his son, Brent L. (Michelle) Gage and their family, Christopher, Austin, William and Alycia of York; step-daughter, Christa (Kenelly) Cervantes and their family, Jennifer and Jared, of Independence, KY, Jessica (Dan) Pfeifer of Aurora and Chantel Cervantes of Arizona, step-daughter-in-law, Stacy Bean and her sons, Caleb and Josh of Kearney; great-grandchildren, Ella Larkins, Axton and Kennalynn Pfeifer of Aurora and Tracyn and Adalynn of Arizona.  He is also survived a brother-in-law, Keith Ulmer of Sperry, OK and other family members and friends.
