Terry Wayne Smith, the son of Ivan and Pauline (Alquist) Smith was born on July 29, 1951 and passed away at his home in Hampton, on February 7, 2025 at the age of 73.
Terry grew up on a farm near Aurora where he enjoyed working with his dad. In 1964 they moved to Hampton as his parents embarked on a life long journey of serving the community and surrounding areas with well service, plumbing, several other services and a Tru Value Hardware and gifts store. During his high school years he recognized that he was separated from a Holy God because of his sin, he placed his faith and hope in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Terry graduated from Hampton High School in 1969. After High School he attended Hastings Technical College. He came back to help run the business full-time after college. On April 8, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart LaVonne Carol Regier in Henderson at the Bethesda Mennonite Church. God blessed them with three children: Shelley, Eric and Sheila.
Terry enjoyed watching his kids participate in many activities. Terry was a devoted son, husband, father, grandpa, businessman and caregiver. He was passionate about helping people and providing his customers with a quality product. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his early years. Later in life, he became very enthusiastic about homeopathic health. A farmer at heart and practice, he tilled and tended 3 large gardens for many years, along with farming near Osceola.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Smith and wife, LaVonne Smith.
