Raymond Brun Petersen, 96, of Ashland, entered into rest on February 1, 2025 at Oxbow Living Center in Ashland.  He was born August 7, 1928 in Aurora, to Peter Brun and Ane Marie (Nissen) Petersen.  Ray attended District 20 country school and Marquette School.  On June 4, 1950, Ray was united in marriage to the love of his life, Delores Jean Andersen at St John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.
Ray farmed for many years in Hamilton County, and through the years he also installed floor coverings.  He worked for Fryers and Knols in Seattle, WA and Bob Hope Furniture in Aurora.
Ray was a member of NFO, an active member of the Democratic Party, Floor Covering Union, Lion’s Club, Leader Krantz Society, and he was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronberg.  He enjoyed mowing golf-course roughs at the Grand Island Country Club, small engine repair, and he loved to travel, especially with his wife Delores.  He was a voracious reader with an interest in a broader world.
He is survived by his sons, Lyle (Connie) Petersen of Lincoln and Clint (Fayne) Petersen of Ashland; grandchildren, Jason (Holly) Petersen, Dara (Jordan) Kautz, Kellen (Kelly) Petersen, Tiffany Blehm and Traci (Blase) Lichtas; great-grandchildren, Lydia and Trevor Petersen, Asher and Avery Kautz, Braxton, Archer and Ryker Petersen, Sullivan and Lennon Lichtas; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Petersen; parents, Peter and Ane Petersen; siblings, Harold (Saralice) Petersen, Christian (Evelyn) Petersen and Olga (Ray) Sorensen; brother-in-law, Ardean (Annebell) Andersen; nephews, Roger Petersen and Tim Andersen.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 2-4 p.m. at Oxbow Living Center (Bluejay Lounge), 1617 Bill’s Dr., Ashland, NE.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2172 N. T Road, Marquette.
