Michael C. Furse, age 61, passed away Jan. 3, 2023 after a long illness at his home on East Battle Lake, Minn.
Mike was born in Denison, Iowa on March 24, 1961 to Ronald “Butch” and Nancy Furse. In 1965 the family moved to Aurora. Through the years he was in school and community club activities earning the Boy Scout of America Eagle Scout Award. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Aurora. Mike was a 1979 graduate of Aurora High School and in his earlier years was employed in the agricultural field before joining LaFarge Aggregate Industries in Nashville, Tenn. While in Nashville he earned a degree from Vanderbilt University while continuing his employment with LaFarge. Health issues forced Mike to take early retirement and he moved to Minnesota in 2020 to live near his favorite “fishing hole” on East Battle Lake.
In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his brother B. Jay (wife Heather) of Austin, Texas, son Chris of Omaha, son Tom (wife Rikki) of Grand Island and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn, and his younger brother, Brent.
A private family funeral service will be held this spring where Mike’s ashes will be scattered along the shore of East Battle Lake.
