Aurora's Gage Griffith had a day on Friday.

The Aurora junior set a new PR during his winning efforts in the Class B discus event Friday at the state track and field meet at Omaha Burke, closing near the top of Aurora's all-time list in the process.

Griffith won the event with a throw of 174-08 in his final attempt during finals, winning by more than four feet. Griffith moves to No. 2 on Aurora's all-time list in the event, past former Husky Pat Shaw's mark of 172-00 in 1981.

The only name left for Griffith to chase next season is Aurora legend Tom Kropp, who had a best throw of 182-10 during the 1971 season.

It was another solid performance from Cassidy Knust, who earned a silver medal in the pole vault with a mark of 10-06.

Aurora's final medal on Friday came from Robert Delgado, who finished fourth in the high jump at 6-06.

Through five completed events, Aurora's boys are third in the team race with 15 points.

The rest of the Class B lineup will finish on Saturday.
