The Plainsman Museum in Aurora has been on a constant path since the beginning of 2022 -- and probably far longer -- to be loud and proud about the history of Hamilton County and its people.
As part of this effort they have joined collective programs to bring awareness to the museum and its contents.
Because, why not?
Among its more recent involvements, the museum has officially joined the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation’s “Wander Nebraska” statewide travel adventure program.
“When the NSHSF kicked off its inaugural grants program for local museums, historical societies and libraries in 2021 it unearthed some of the treasured stories, records and artifacts maintained by these largely rural organizations,” the Wander Nebraska press release reads. “To promote their work, the NSHSF has released a new statewide travel adventure program, aimed at increasing awareness of what is found in the local sites along backroads and in communities that are often overlooked by the typical tourist.”
