Health director of the Central District Health Department (CDHD) Teresa Anderson gave an update on the health of the community last week and asked the Aurora City Council for a local donation of $5,500, 10 percent more than last year.
The money was requested to help keep COVID-19 under control as Anderson shared data showing a spike of cases in Hamilton County at the time of the meeting, even as the county was ranked among the most healthy in the state.
“An additional 10 percent that we’re asking from each of our partners is going to help us to better serve the population,” Anderson said. “Worst case scenario, we’ll have some friends that will help us to continue to vaccinate...also during the emergency events, as well.”

A dose of good news
Shared by Anderson, data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Hamilton County is No. 2 in health outcomes and No. 1 in health factors in a comparison of Nebraskan counties.
