1st Street pour completed
Construction crews finished pouring the south portion of 1st Street on the west side of Aurora Public Schools Wednesday.
Andrew Wilhusen, JEO’s transportation project manager, reported the latest update Monday, adding that work will begin on the intersection returns along 1st Street as well as rough grading now that the west half of the street is poured.
With school starting next week, he emphasized that 1st Street will remain closed to traffic for safety reasons. “However,” he added, “we will open the road to allow access to the south driveway of the school. Barricades will be placed just north of that driveway to prevent further access.”
Once the intersection work is complete, crews will move the “road closed” barricades farther north, Wilshusen said.
“Please keep in mind that even after access is restored, construction will continue during the day, including driveway and sidewalk pouring along the corridor. We appreciate your continued patience throughout this project.”
