Aurora ag teacher Sarah Cordonier has been hard at work over the last several months gathering everything she needs for a long-awaited and highly-anticipated addition to Aurora’s agricultural education program.
With a recent grant from the Hamilton Community Foundation, Cordonier’s dreams will be coming true as the Aurora Agricultural Department Learning Lab will soon be coming to life.
Following the 4R board’s approval, which she received during the December board meeting, a 32-by-48-foot structure will be erected to serve as a multi-use agricultural learning lab focused on making agriculture education more hands-on for Aurora students. Additionally, students will be offered an “Advanced Animal Science” class in the upcoming school year.
“Right now we do not offer an animal science pathway,” Cordonier said. “We have a mechanics and metals pathway that Tony (Sigler) teaches and then I teach a general ag pathway and a plant science pathway. We also have an environmental pathway that both of us teach.”
