Friday night was heartbreak for multiple area teams on the gridiron.

Both Aurora and High Plains lost single possession games to start the month of October as Aurora fell at Adams Central while HPC lost at home to Osceola.

The Huskies needed a two-point conversion to tie after its fourth quarter score by Maddex Egger, but couldn't get across the line. As for High Plains, the Storm couldn't answer a fourth quarter TD from the Bulldogs on its last drive.

After a 27-day layoff, the Hampton Hawks showed little rust in its return to the football field.

The Hawks scored early and often, scoring 43 points in the first quarter in a 77-20 win at Heartland Lutheran Thursday.

Jack Bullis was a touchdown machine for Hampton with six in the game.

As for Giltner, the Hornets fell at Fullerton after falling behind early despite a couple receiving touchdowns from Phillip Kreutz.

Listed are all area teams and the scores of those games with the winning team in bold:

Aurora @ Adams Central, 21-19

Hampton @ Heartland Lutheran, 77-20

High Plains vs Osceola, 12-6

Giltner @ Fullerton, 64-28
