Ted Swanson

Ted L. Swanson, age 78, of Kearney, died on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Home – Keens Memorial in Kearney. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Kearney American Legion Club.
Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services  assisted the family with arrangements.
Ted was born on Jan. 27, 1942 in Aurora, to Theodore and Hilda (Johnson) Swanson. He attended Aurora High School and graduated in 1960. Ted married Ellen Hawk on Sept. 9, 1961 in Aurora. He began working for Consumers Public Power in Aurora out of high school and eventually retired with Nebraska Public Power in 1997 after 36 years of service. Ted enjoyed his yard, gardening and spending time with his family and his cat, Digger.
Ted is survived by his sons, Russell Swanson and his wife AJ of Kearney and Corey Swanson and his wife Nancy of Springfield; daughters, Jodi Cordle and her husband Brad and Carol Swanson and Gene Freeze, all of Kearney; sisters, Alice Johnson of Polk and Lois and Ron Burns of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Lindsay Swanson; and brother-in-law, Gordon Johnson.
