In one of the most recent webinars by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Ag Profitability, a professional in the field of ag law tackled the topic of the Growing Climate Solutions Act. 
This act, which became law in December of 2022, has a goal to provide transparency in the ag carbon credit market on both the corporate and individual scale. 
“I think Congress understands that right now selling carbon credits in private, voluntary markets is not a super deal for most producers today,” explained Dave Aiken, agricultural and water law specialist with Nebraska Extension. “But they think that it’s something that is going to be important in the future, as we all get more serious about trying to drive greenhouse gas emissions down.”
