The school day just got longer for the Huskies -- on Wednesday anyway.
Thanks to a round of snow days and other school cancellations that were unplanned at the beginning of the school year, Supt. Jody Phillips and 4R board members were tasked with taking action to rectify the situation in order to meet instructional hours requirements as a district.
Phillips presented a few options to the board for discussion at Monday’s regular monthly meeting.
“As you may know or not know, Rule 10 dictates to us that we need to have a required amount of seat time, which is instructional hours,” he said. “For K-8 that’s 1,032 and for 9-12 it’s 1,080. Preschool (and kindergarten) would be 450. So, based off of all of the days and times that we’ve been out this year, we are coming in under meeting those requirements.”
