At approximately 5 p.m. on Aug. 28 a three-vehicle accident on Highway 34 east of Aurora caused the road to be closed for around an hour.
Cody Thomas, public relations director with the Nebraska State Patrol reported that a westbound Chevy Suburban, driven by Alfonso Rosales Gonzalez, 21, of Grand Island, crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Chevy Malibu, driven by Yessica Bocanegra, 22, of Aurora.
The Suburban then continued eastbound for a short distance where is struck a Ford Mustang, driven by an 18-year-old female, head on.
All three drivers were transported to the hospital with serious, but believed non-life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Thomas added that troopers were able to use their new drone program in the investigation which enabled them to open up the road quicker than they would have been able to otherwise.
