Assessor reports end to 5-year decline based on sales

Body

Ag land values are holding steady in 2021, ending a five-run string of consecutive years with declining values for premium irrigated acres.
Hamilton County Assessor Pat Sandberg reported this week that ag land valuations had been leveling off since spiking by more than 30 percent in 2015, though based on recent sales she believes the trend line is starting to turn.
“I didn’t feel that I wanted to lower anything because I think the ag market is coming back,” she explained. “I’ve had some strong sales since my cutoff date of Sept. 30, 2020. If the market comes up I might have to raise my ag land next year, but every year is just so darn different and it’s all based on the market.”
