Dunn stepping down from city council post

Aurora City Councilman Mark Dunn announced this week that he will be vacating his position due to a pending move outside the city limits.
Dunn, a Ward 3 councilman who was first elected in the fall of 2020, made his decision public at the end of the Aug. 25 council meeting, explaining that he and his wife plan to close on the sale of a new house on Sept. 14. City statutes require that council representatives live within the ward they represent, thus Dunn said he will vacate the position as of that date.
Mayor Marlin Seeman announced that applications will be sought for anyone wanting to submit their name for consideration to fill out the remainder of Dunn’s term. He also noted that he will be consulting with City Administrator Adam Darbro, as well as Harlan Schafer, who is running unopposed in the November election for the mayor’s seat.
