The weekday’s of the Nebraska State Fair were filled with a flurry of activity, as the fairgrounds welcomed Nebraska’s Largest Classroom to center stage.
Back after a hiatus year in 2020, school children from across the state visited the fair -- for free -- to learn all they could about the wonders of Nebraska.
Aurora and Hampton students took advantage of the opportunity Aug. 31, the first of three days, to soak it all in.
“Attending the State Fair is a great way for our students to experience agriculture in a hands-on environment that has been designed to meet them at their level of understanding,” said Aurora Elementary principal Mark Standage. “This is a free program that is offered to all schools across the state and with our proximity to Grand Island, it’s a great opportunity for our students!”
Aurora Elementary brought all of its third graders, as well as teachers and other volunteers, for a day of fun. The Hampton Hawks were able to bus kindergarten through sixth grade to the fair this year.
