A group of seven area youth ventured out on a galactic quest from the confines of the Hamilton County Courthouse Thursday, signing up for an afternoon program designed to let kids explore the mysteries of space through hands-on activities.
UN-L Extension Educator Tammy Stuhr explained the goal of the day’s event, reporting lots of energy and smiles from the local participants.
“National 4-H came up with a science experiment to do across the nation and this fall the Nebraska Extension took it an extra step, contacting the UNL Honors Program in order to be an engaged partner,” she said. “We asked students if they would be interested in coming out to rural areas of Nebraska and teaching about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education.”
