The deadline for incumbents to file in the upcoming November elections passed on July 15, though non-incumbent candidates have until Aug. 1 to throw their hat in the ring.
The following incumbents have filed for re-election in Hamilton County. 
For countywide positions: Patricia Sandberg filed for assessor, Douglas Dexter for attorney, Jill DeMers for clerk, Wendy Dethlefs for district court clerk, Adam Goertzen for surveyor, Joann Griffith for treasurer and Jeromy McCoy for sheriff.
In the City of Aurora: Marlin Seeman filed for another term as mayor, Paul Lackore for a seat as Ward 1 council member, Dick Phillips for Ward 2 and Dan Bartling for Ward 3.
Several incumbents and are seeking another term on area village boards and newcomers are seeking open seats, including:
Giltner Village Board -- Kyle Spotts and Cody Nuss.
Hampton Village Board -- Kayla Gaughen, James Parsley and Nick Faller. 
Hordville Village Board -- Matthew Means and Carla Fowler. 
Marquette Village Board -- Ruby Skidmore --  two incumbents did not file, leaving those seats open. Ronda Cunningham is running for one open seat.
Phillips Village Board -- Les Dana, Jim Crawford, Jason Fry and Jordan Watson.
Stockham Board of Trustees -- Berdon Kliewer and Vivian Kliewer.
For board of education positions, incumbents filed as follows:
Aurora 4R Public School -- Pat Shaw and Cyndi Muilenburg filed, leaving one seat open. Tyler Stark, Chad Svoboda and Tessa Stevens are running to fill three open seats.
Giltner Public School -- Ross Lyon filed as an incumbent. Seven challengers filed along with Lyon, with five of those advancing from the primary election in May. The top six vote-getters, including Lyon, Nate Most, Jamie Bendorf, Brandon Hunnicutt, Logan Rath and Joel Hinrichs, will face off in November to fill three open seats.
Hampton Public School -- Grant Dose filed, two incumbents did not, leaving two open seats. Brain Litz is running for one open seat.
High Plains Community School -- Nathan Spurling and Shane Van Pelt filed, leaving one open seat.
Central City School -- Charles (Chuck) Homolka, Brent Kennedy and Aaron Heins. 
Hamilton County residents in each of the following area school districts will be able to vote in the November school board elections as well.
Doniphan/Trumbull School -- Stephanie Roach, John Schultz and Amanda Groff filed, leaving one open seat. 
Harvard Public School -- Kenneth Reutzel, Clint Schwenk and Jody Novak. Alex Koehler is running for one open seat.
Heartland Public School -- Kent Allen and Tammy Ott filed, leaving one open seat. Ryan Goertzen and Jen Hiebner are running for two open seats.
Sutton Public School -- Jerry Overturf, Jolene Griess and Monica Shipman.
