Aurora Chamber of Commerce hosts online banquet, celebrating unusual year
The Aurora Chamber of Commerce celebrated achievements from a most unusual year with its first-ever virtual banquet Thursday, reflecting the on-going challenges of conducting business in the midst of a global pandemic.
Rather than invite community business leaders and guests together for an evening banquet and awards program, the Chamber board took a different approach, encouraging guests to get orders to go from local member restaurants, then log in at 6 p.m. Thursday to watch a pre-recorded 30-minute awards video.
“I know this is a little different than normal banquets, but I think it is also safe to say that this has been a very different year overall,” began Justise Rhoden, the Chamber’s executive director. “Tonight, we want to focus on some of those different ideas that helped our community over this last year.”
