Trevor Carlstrom closed out his High Plains athletic career with a chaotic Saturday.
With much cooler conditions on day four as opposed to the first two, Carlstrom competed in two events, including an 8th place effort in the long jump during Saturday’s action at the state track and field championships from Omaha Burke Stadium.
High Plains coach John Kucera explained that with the wild spring weather the teams have been through all season long, it was tough to get a gauge on who landed where in terms of best jumps.
With that in mind, he was happy to see Carlstrom not only make the finals, but improve on his standing in those final three attempts.
“He did great. Coming in, he had his work cut out for him,” Kucera said. “We knew with the weather this year, some of those marks would be kind of weird. He performed real well, got himself a medal and we’re proud of that.”
