Fire crews from Marquette, Aurora and Hampton all responded to a fire in a mostly unharvested corn field near the intersection of County Roads R and 20 Sunday afternoon. Marquette Fire Chief Dylan Christenson says the call came in at 2 p.m. He said while harvesters had started cutting in the field, the cause of the blaze is unknown at this time. Fire crews were on the scene for a little over an hour and three area farmers also showed up with tractors and disks to help in the fire suppression effort. Christenson estimates that about 40 acres of corn burned up.
