Adopt-A-Pet to host fundraiser
Silent auction, raffle planned to support furry friends
Volunteers at Aurora Adopt-A-Pet are inviting the community to attend the “Smooches with Pooches and Cuddles with Kittens” Chili Feed and Silent Auction on Saturday, Feb. 22. The event at the Commercial Building at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds will take place from 5-8 p.m.
Shelter volunteer Kellie Ommert explained the fundraiser will assist the shelter’s growing needs to help pets reunite with their families and helping rescued dogs and cats find their forever homes.
“In recent years, the demand on shelters and rescues everywhere has increased dramatically and shelters are full,” Ommert said. “Our shelter is no different and our needs have grown tremendously.”
Adopt-A-Pet’s goal for the event is to raise $10,000 with the funds going toward providing additional space at the shelter, daily care of the animals, medical care and other needs.
Tickets for the chili feed can be purchased at the door for $12 to dine in or carry out and the cost is $5 for children 5 years or under.
In addition to chili, cinnamon rolls will also be served and live music will be provided by Larry Molczyk.
The silent auction will take place from 5-7 p.m. Items for the silent auction and raffle prizes can be previewed on the “Smooches with Pooches and Cuddles with Kittens” event page on Facebook under the discussion tab.
Sponsors can also give monetary donations and donations of $250 or more will be recognized with the donor’s name placed on a paw print that will be displayed on the shelter’s new sponsor tree.
“Your contribution will be vital to helping us succeed in planning our fundraiser and continuing the work that we do to provide adequate care for hundreds of dogs and cats each year,” Ommert said.
