Vote for write-in candidates in city council races

Body

Dear Editor:
As a residential rental manager in Aurora I am very concerned about the increased levy on the City of Aurora portion of our property tax bills as announced by the pink postcards that arrived in the mail.
As I review and pay bills, it’s obvious that inflation has caused our management costs to increase in a variety of areas: insurance, labor, and supplies. Our tenants have also experienced higher costs in their utilities, groceries, gas, health insurance, healthcare costs, etc. But the 38 percent increase that the city originally proposed and then the 22 percent that they eventually passed is far beyond normal inflation. Whether you are a renter or a homeowner this has a direct effect on your housing costs. There is hope that this area of expense can be prevented from escalating if we elect city council members who are committed to fiscal responsibility.
Vote for the write-in candidate in your particular ward (Jannelle Seim, Ward 1; Esther Bergen, Ward 2; Carl Smith, Ward 3) and help make a difference.
