Life Chain event a worthy cause
Dear Editor:
The first Sunday of October, designated as Life Chain Sunday, is coming up fast on us!
Just to give some background, Life Chain began in Yuba City, Calif., in 1987 with 2,500 participants. The second Life Chain occurred in 1989 when 101 churches at Bakersfield came together with 7,500 participants in silent prayer for the endangered unborn. Since then, Life Chain has spread across the nation and Canada. Thanks to Bill and Mary Krejci, Aurora was added to their list about 20 years ago! Bill and Mary have worked hard to get people standing for life, literally, on that day in silent prayer, showing that we do stand for life from conception to natural death.
Nebraska has found itself in a hard place this fall with life and death on the ballot. Without the rising up of people to stand for life and the crying out for God’s divine intervention, we are likely to follow in the footsteps of our neighbor state, Kansas, where abortion is now legal up to nine months. Aurora and the surrounding communities of Hamilton County, let’s make a difference. Let’s gather at Streeter Park, standing along Hwy 34, Oct. 6, 2:00-3 p.m., to pray in unity for life.
