Playground receives $25K donation
Funds raised now total $142,000
The Hamilton County Inclusive Playground project received a financial boost recently when the Aurora Lodge #68 A.F & A.M presented organizers with a donation of $25,000 pushing the fundraising total so far to $142,000.
Jennifer Heiden, a member of the group behind the initiative said, “The donation generously given to the inclusive playground project by the Aurora Lodge #68 A.F & A.M means so much to so many in our community. It is giving us all hope in humanity; that the reality and importance of inclusiveness is really a priority for Hamilton County. Donations given to our project are not taken lightly. We understand that our project was strategically chosen by those who believe in our vision and confident that our community will undoubtedly benefit from this type of project.”
“We want everyone to know that each decision that is made throughout this project has your family in mind,” Heiden continued. “Whether you have physical limitations, cognitive impairments or other handicaps that limit your ability to fully participate and enjoy typical parks, we see you, we hear you and you are a priority. We are humbled that Hamilton County trusts us to pursue and eventually complete such an important project.”
Organizers say they are encouraged by the amount of support the project has already received, even before the formal fundraising process begins. Promotional materials will be printed and fundraising will begin in earnest after the group receives the final design of the nearly 16,000 square foot facility to be located along Old Creek Road across Lincoln Creek from McDonalds. Cami Knust who is one of the leaders of the project says that final design is expected by the end of the month.
